Ed Agle Mid-Range Service Rifle

Season Championship Award

Ed was the oldest of three children from Akron Ohio.  During his childhood he saw the world living in Johannesburg South Africa and  Hamburg Germany.  Upon their return to the United States his family resided in Salinas, California but Ed circled back to Akron, Ohio to pursue his bachelors degree.  It was during these travels he met the love of his life Sue, getting married in 1971 while he was on leave from Vietnam where he served in the 75th Infantry L Company of the 101st Airborne Division.

While completing his education Ed answered a higher calling to serve and protect others in becoming a firefighter and paramedic working for the City of Fairborn Ohio Fire Department.  He was involved in water rescue, rock climbing, repelling off rocks and dams, jumping out of planes, flying small planes, and so much more.  Everything he did, he did 110%

After retiring from the fire service, he quickly threw his energy into golf and shooting, which he excelled at.  Ed was Mr. Service rifle, he loved his beloved "Wood Guns", but was also talented with his "Plastic Guns".  Ed knew and forgot more about that M1A than others will ever learn.  His eyesight was something that younger shooters wished they had.  He was a distinguished service rifleman, a high master in across the course and mid-range, and a master in long range, all with a service rifle.  He won the Springfield M1A match along with other numerous awards.  For service rifle shooters in our area he was the man.  Throughout his life he had a competitive and determined personality, and this continued to the day he died.

Ed was a regular at CIHPRS matches not only shooting, but helping setup and tear down.  Ed was always willing to help out new and experienced shooters alike.  Anybody that shot with him always enjoyed the experience.

This season award will go to the shooter with the highest two (2) match average for the season shooting a service rifle.
