Excellence In Competition (EIC) or Leg Match

The Excellence in Competition (EIC or "Leg" match) is a Service Rifle match governed by CMP rules. Competitors are eligible to earn points toward the coveted Distinguished Rifleman Badge.  Stages of fire are similar to NRA Highpower with a couple of key differences:  no sighter shots are allowed, and shooters start rapid fire stages from standing position.  


Course of fire

200 yard Offhand- The shooter will have 10 slow fire shots in a time period of 10 minutes.

200 yard Rapid Sitting- 10 rounds or record in a time period of 60 seconds from the sling supported sitting position with a magazine change.  Shooters have a 3 minute preparation ("prep") period.   At the end of the prep period the comand "Shooters Stand" will be given.  Shooters start in the standing position. On the command "Fire", when the targets raise the shooter will get into the sitting position for and commence fire.

200 yard Rapid Sitting from standing



300 yard Rapid Prone- The shooter will have 10 rounds for record in a time period of 70 seconds from the sling supported prone position.  As with sitting rapid, shooters will start in the standing position:  when the command is given and targets are raised the shooter will get into the prone position and commence fire.

600 yard Prone- The shooter will have 20 rounds for record in a time period of 20 minutes from the sling supported prone position.  

Permitted Rifles

The only permitted rifles in EIC matches are as follows

US Rifle, Caliber .30 M1, or Caliber 7.62mm M1
US Rifle, Caliber 7.62mm M14
US Rifle, Caliber 5.56mm M16 Series

Leg points

Depending on the number of competitors and how the competitors place each shooter has the opportunity to earn points towards there Distinguished Rifle badge.  It takes a total of 30 points to receive this award with 10 of the points needing to be won at the NTI match at Camp Perry.
