Vintage and Modern Sniper Rifle match

This match is based off the CMP Vintage Sniper rifle match but with a Camp Atterbury twist.

Competitor Divisions:

Civilian and Trained LEO/Military

Rifle Divisions

Vintage Rifle- Any rifle as defined by the CMP as a Vintage Sniper Rifle

Modern Rifle- Any Rifle not designated as a Vintage sniper rifle as per CMP rules that has a barrel length of 24” or shorter. (Service rifles or any match rifle may participate in this class provided they have a barrel of 24” or shorter)

Target Rifle- Any rifle that has a barrel length longer than 24"

Iron Sight Rifle- Any rifle with open iron sights

Course of Fire*

Stage 1- 200 yard sight in period.  The shooter will have a 3 minute period for unlimited sighters.  The target will be pulled and marked upon impact as per standard slow fire procedure.  This stage is not scored.

Stage 2- 200 yard movers.  The shooter will have 4 30-second target exposures, 1 left to right, 1 right to left alternating.  During the 30 second exposure the shooter will have 3 shot opportunities to successfully hit the target.  1st shot hit- 10 pts., 2nd shot hit- 6 pts., 3rd shot hit- 2pts. Upon impact the target will be lowered. Any head shot during the 3 engagements will be worth 15 points.

Stage 3- 300 yard sight in period.  The shooter will have a 3 minute period for unlimited sighters.  The target will be pulled and marked upon impact as per standard slow fire procedure.  This stage is not scored.

Stage 4- 300 yard stationary target.  The shooter will have 10 20 second target exposures.  The target will raise and be up for the entire 20 second period, then it will be pulled for 20 seconds.  The target will then be raised and the previous point value will be scored.  Scoring will be the value marked on the SR-3, MR-42, or MR-63F depending on category target.

Stage 5- 300 yard movers.  The same as stage 2, accept shot at 300 yards.  The total score will be multiplied by 1.5 for this stage.  

Stage 6- 600 yard sight in period. The shooter will have a 3 minute period for unlimited sighters.  The target will be pulled and marked upon impact as per standard slow fire procedure.  This stage is not scored.  

Stage 7- 600 yard stationary target.  The same as stage 4, accept will be shot on the MR-1, MR-65, MR-1F target depending on category

Stage 8- 600 yard movers.  The same as stage 2, accept shot at 600 yards. The total score for this stage will be multiplied by 2

Permitted Equipment-

The shooter is permitted to shoot using sling/coat, bi-pod, front/rear bag, or combination of bi-pod and rear bag.  F-t/r bipods are permitted.  F-Open front rests are not permitted.  The shooter MUST SUPPLY his/her bags.  Sandbags will NOT BE PROVIDED.

Scorekeeper/Spotter-

The non shooting member is allowed and encouraged to call out wind and hold offs for the shooter.  They are also responsible for keeping track of the shots fired during the mover stage.

Total Score-

This match is both an individual and team match.  The combined scores of the two shooters will be added up for the team score.  The match winner will be determined by the person with the highest score with X's earned on the stationary targets counting as tie breakers.  If a tie still exists the shooter with the least number of shots taken on stage 2 will determine the winner.  If a tie still exists the shooter with the least number of shots taken on stage 5 will determine the winner.  If a tie still exists the shooter with the least number of shots taken on stage 8 will determine the winner.
